Luambe Horizons is a boutique 8 sleeper safari camp located in the Luambe National Park, 3 hours north of South Luangwa.
It is a one-of-a kind camp, built with canvas, gauze, and retractable roofs. This unique design makes it the only camp in Zambia where you can enjoy a sleep-out experience from your own room each night, right in the wildest and most game-rich part of Luambe National Park.
Luambe Horizons has been built overlooking the Kasikizi floodplain in Luambe. Due to the floodplains and abundance of lagoons nearby, this is the most game rich area of the park with lion, leopard and wild dog commonly seen here.
This is the area where we traditionally offered our Luambe sleep outs and so in building Luambe Horizons, we wanted to replicate that incredible experience.
The front and ceilings of the rooms have been made with gauze allowing open views to the wildlife and skies. Our retractable roofs allow you to choose when you want to see the skies and stars or when you want the cover. The en-suite bathrooms come complete with free standing baths which add to the wild and romantic experience.

Luambe Horizons camp: Safari Chalets with Retractable Roofs and Open-Air Bathrooms
Each chalet can be made up as a Twin or King Bed configuration and come complete with luggage racks, standing fans and mosquito nets. The ceiling and front walls are completely see through with curtains for privacy if needed.
The roofs are fully retractable and its completely YOUR CHOICE as to when you want them open or covered. Normally, the roofs are pulled back at night for open views to the night skies and then pulled over the chalet for cover and shade in the day. The en-suite bathrooms have a gauze ceiling, back and side reed walls, open air showers and free standing baths with views over the Kasikizi floodplains.

Our main area is a simple Bedouin-style stretch tent overlooking the Kasikizi floodplain and Luangwa River with a dining and lounge area casually arranged near the bar and some reading material. It's a great place for a Chardonnay, a good book and pair of binoculars and wait for the giraffe to walk past. Morning coffee is served around the fire on the floodplain and every night we dine under the stars on the floodplain with a spot light nearby to see who is walking around.
It's a truly immersive experience at one of the most beautiful locations in the world.

Luambe National Park: One of Zambia's greatest success stories
Over a decade of dedication and tourism in Luambe National Park through Nsanga Conservation and the original Luambe camp as yielded incredible results. Giraffe and elephant numbers have increased dramatically and the resident lion prides and leopard have become increasingly more habituated. Wild Dog and hyeana are frequently encountered, especially around the Kasikizi floodplain area where Luambe Horizons has been built. Luambe has clearly returned to its rightful place of the jewel in the Luangwa Valley wilderness landscape.
