5 Reasons to Visit Luambe National Park

Why choose to visit Luambe National Park?

Luambe - the rising star of the Luangwa offering unspoiled wilderness and unparalleled exclusivity.

/ 01

The Feeling of Rediscovery and Pioneering Safari

Luambe National Park is one of the oldest protected areas in Zambia, yet for decades, it remained largely unvisited. Now, thanks to dedicated conservation efforts, it is experiencing a major resurgence. Visiting Luambe is not just a safari; it’s an opportunity to be part of its re-establishment. You get the rare feeling of pioneering a safari route and discovering a piece of Africa that is just starting to reveal its beauty and abundance, deep within the Luangwa Valley.

/ 02

Zambia’s Unique Sleep-Out Experience

Luambe offers a signature experience that cannot be found elsewhere in the country: the chance to sleep entirely open to the elements. This sleep-out inspired the design of the new camp - Luambe Horizons - which has been built to provide an unparalleled open-air sleep-out experience every single night. You get to fall asleep under the brilliant canopy of the southern stars and wake to the sounds of the African bush, making for a truly immersive and romantic connection with the Luangwa Valley wilderness.

/ 03

Game-Rich areas such as the Kasikizi Floodplain

The park’s game viewing is centrally focused around the expansive and productive Kasikizi Floodplain and the nearby permanent lagoons. This concentration of water and grazing land ensures consistent, high-quality sightings, particularly during the dry season. The density of herbivores attracts predators, meaning visitors often enjoy excellent sightings of lion, leopard, and painted wolf (wild dog) without having to drive far, making the most of your time in this section of the Luangwa Valley.

/ 04

Transitional Ecology for Diverse Birdlife

Luambe's position provides a unique ecological mix, blending the dense riverine habitat of the South with the rugged wilderness characteristics of the North. This transitional zone is a magnet for diverse wildlife and, crucially, an exceptional array of birdlife. The river frontage and seasonal lagoons make it a fantastic destination for ornithologists, particularly during the Emerald Season, who want to cover a wide variety of Luangwa Valley species in one intimate location.

/ 05

The Ultimate Exclusive and Intimate Safari

Nestled perfectly between the North and South Luangwa, Luambe offers a level of seclusion that is increasingly rare. With only a minimal number of visitors permitted, you will often feel like you have the entire 254-square-kilometer park to yourself. This exclusive safari environment guarantees unparalleled intimacy at sightings, allowing your guide total freedom to dictate pace and time spent, adhering perfectly to the authentic and relaxed Luangwa style.
