PART 1: BEST OF BOTH SAFARI OVERVIEW

Luambe Horizons Camp

Your Luangwa safari begins with your arrival at Mfuwe Airport, where you will be transferred directly north to Luambe National Park.

This park is the Luangwa Valley's hidden gem, offering a profoundly quiet and remote feel—an immediate immersion into an area with minimal visitors.

As often the only visitors in the park, your safari here often feels like an exclusive expedition. Activities are flexible, including bush walks and game drives that explore the varying terrains. Luambe is the perfect place to truly slow down and connect with the African bush, enjoying unparalleled solitude and the personalized guiding that defines the very best in Luangwa travel.

ABOUT THE REGION

Luambe National Park

4-luambe-camp-luangwa-valley-2018

Luambe National Park in Zambia offers an exceptional safari experience for travelers seeking a quieter, more remote destination. Nestled deep within the Luangwa Valley, Luambe remains one of the least-visited parks in the region, which adds to its unique appeal for those looking to escape the crowds.

In recent years, concerted conservation efforts by park authorities and community partners have led to significant improvements in wildlife protection, resulting in a noticeable increase in animal populations, including elephants, leopards, and various bird species. This resurgence has revitalized the park’s natural ecosystems while maintaining its pristine and tranquil atmosphere.

PART 2: BESST OF BOTH SAFARI OVERVIEW

Painted Dogs Lagoon

Gerd Tromm

Mid-journey, you will take an inter-camp road transfer south to the game-rich area of South Luangwa National Park, famous for its exceptional wildlife density.

For 4 nights, you will enjoy the contrasting energy of this world-class destination.

Painted Dogs Lagoon offers a tranquil setting where you can observe wildlife directly from the camp's infinity pool or dining platform, often watching large herds of elephants and hippos at the lagoon. Your game drives will take place inside the park, focusing on finding the abundant lion, hippo, elephant, buffalo, and of course the the area's famed leopard population. This second section provides high-octane sightings and ensures you capture the quintessential Zambian safari experience before your departure to Mfuwe Airport.

ABOUT THE REGION

South Luangwa National Park

lodge luangwa nsefu 70

South Luangwa National Park is widely regarded as one of Zambia’s premier safari destinations, renowned for its exceptional wildlife density and diverse ecosystems along the meandering Luangwa River. While more accessible than its northern counterpart, South Luangwa still retains a sense of remoteness that appeals to travelers seeking an immersive and authentic African safari experience without the crowds found in more commercialized parks. Over the past few decades, substantial conservation efforts have strengthened protection measures, resulting in a significant rebound of iconic species such as elephants, lions, hippos, and leopards. The park is also famous for its large populations of hippos and prolific birdlife. South Luangwa’s well-established infrastructure supports a range of accommodations, from intimate bush camps to luxury lodges, offering game drives, walking safaris, and night drives. Its combination of abundant wildlife, commitment to conservation, and quieter, less touristy atmosphere makes it an ideal choice for travelers seeking both comfort and an authentic wilderness adventure in Zambia.
