Luambe Rest Camp sits right on the banks of the Luangwa River and is a place where conservation and the traditional safari experience naturally meet. Here, you find a true glimpse of the Luangwa Valley before the arrival of mass tourism: a piece of Africa that time forgot, often being the only guests exploring the park.
Luambe Rest Camp is the original Luambe Camp site, now exclusively offered to guests looking for a self-drive and self-catering safari. This move was made to better serve the independent traveler and to support the expansion of our conservation partners, Nsanga Conservation, which benefits from the camp’s location near the park boundary. We believe offering two distinct camps helps us broaden our conservation footprint and market reach.
What is on offer when you stay at Luambe Rest Camp?
The original Luambe tents and en-suite bathrooms remain in place for your accommodation
In terms of packages – we have 2 options: a catered package offering a tea and coffee in the morning, a traditional brunch at mid morning, a late lunch in the middle of the afternoon and then dinner. Meals will consist of simple, tasty and home style cooking options.
A self catering option is available for guests booking out the whole camp. Simply arrive with your food and drinks and have our kitchen team prepare your meals for you.

What safaris activities are available at Luambe Rest Camp?
No guided game drives and walks are available from Luambe Rest Camp now but staff and maps will be available to assist you on the dedicate self drive game loops we will have graded in the designated self drive parts of the park.
What about the signature Luambe sleep-out - it still available at Luambe Rest Camp?
No, the signature Luambe sleep out will only be available for bookings made at Luambe Horizons.
